Hi there! I'm Ms. Howson and I am excited about working with your child this year and providing support for not only your child but also you as a parent and the amazing teachers that will be working with your child.

A little bit about my education background....

 I graduated from Rogers State University with my Bachelors in Psychology. I graduated from Capella University with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling along with a Graduate Certification in Play Therapy. I graduated from UNC Charlotte with my Post-Masters Graduate Certification in School Counseling.

A little bit about my work background...

I have several years of experience working with youth with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, substance use disorders and mental health disorders as well as youth involved with Juvenile Justice and now youth within the school system. This will be my 3rd year as the School Counselor at Vass-Lakeview Elementary. 

And a little bit about me...

I was born in North Carolina and grew up in North Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma. I moved back to North Carolina in 2014 and have settled my roots in my home state once again.

I am a parent to a teenager as well as 1 goofy dog, 2 feisty cats, a leopard gecko (that is also my school office pet) and 1 introverted hermit crab!

I enjoy gardening, painting, crafting, Starbucks, hanging out at the beach/lake/river/mountains, kayaking & tubing, and always having a bright manicure!
